City of Aberdeen censors Kurt Cobain stone

Remember the controversial Kurt Cobain momument story from earlier this week?

Yesterday, an Aberdeen city councilwoman persuaded the caretaker of an unofficial city park honoring Kurt Cobain to have the stone, which contains a quote from Cobain that has the word “fuck” in it, censored before the City Council was slated to take on the issue next week, noting to him that the votes were likely not to be in his favor.

So, promptly, the caretaker had the monument company who created the stone come in and “bleep” the stone.

The stone is set beside the Young Street Bridge, a place Kurt is said to have hung out as a youth and also wrote the song “Something in the Way” about.

About Steven Friederich

Steven has been taking concert photos since 1999 and has since earned his stripes in countless photo pits. He’s been spit at by Trent Reznor, growled at by Rob Zombie, his hair was almost caught on fire by Rammstein’s flame-throwing guitar and he was assaulted by an AC-DC security guard because his photo pass was visible. Despite all this, he still manages to enjoy shooting arena rock concerts.
