Pearl Jam to release Live on Ten Legs Jan. 18

Pearl Jam turned 20 years old a few weeks back and the group plans to celebrate two decades of rock with a blitz of releases in 2011.

The first release from the band will come Jan. 18 and it will be a sequel to 1998’s platinum-selling Live 0n Two Legs live album. The album contains 18 tracks recorded during the group’s 2003-201o tours and features covers of Joe Strummer’s “Arms Aloft” and Public Image Ltd.’s “Public Image.”

Live on Ten Legs will be available internationally through Island Records as a digital version, CD version and a deluxe version. The deluxe version will include a CD, double LP package, four mini poster reprints, five live photos and a tour laminate.

Other rumored releases that will mark Pearl Jam’s 20th that have yet to be given release dates include a feature-length Cameron Crowe documentary about the band, a Rock Band video game centered around the band’s live performances and a reissuing of the band’s back catalog. Also, word on the street is that Eddie and the boys are planning their biggest hometown concert to date.

While the first three items mentioned have all been officially announced, word of a live show is pure rumor (although I have it on good word that a big live show will be happening). I have no idea what exactly the concert will involve but I am keeping my fingers crossed for a summertime date at Qwest Field with openers Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. Sure it’s a pipe dream, but man would it be oh so cool if that actually happened.
