The Lights are turning the lights off (for now)

The Lights, a band responsible for one of Guerrilla Candy’s favorite local albums of 2010, are taking a bit of a hiatus. The band’s final local show before they take a bit of a break will be Feb. 25 at the Funhouse with Partmanparthorse and Unnatural Helpers. It’s going to be a  wild night, like most are at the Funhouse, so be sure to arrive early and say farewell to these stalwarts of the local rock scene.

You might of noticed that this is a hiatus and not a breakup. Here are some words about the band’s decision to take a bit of a break from the Lights’ Jeff Albertson:

Don’t call it a break up! We’ve been around too long to let multiple mountain ranges and life’s many hurdles stop us. Technically, we’re not calling this the end of the Lights, but it is true that our good friend and drummer, PJ Rogalski, is packing up his family and moving to the comfy confines of Missoula, Montana. This will certainly be a celebration – not only of the music we’ve been creating together for the bulk of our adult lives, but also of the friendship that’s kept us afloat for so long. Future Lights’ shows will be few and far between, but our band is about family and friendships and we believe those things last lifetimes.

If you aren’t familiar with the band check out the review of the band’s latest album, Failed Graves, and watch the Amplified short from MTV’s $5 Cover: Seattle above and then mark your calendars for Feb. 25 so you can send them off with style at the Funhouse.
