PHOTOS: Hounds of the Wild Hunt at the High Dive

Hounds of the Wild Hunt were the perfect band to close out the festivities last week at Guerrilla Candy’s Launch Party. The band formerly known as the Whore Moans played a set filled with loads of energy and passion and lots and lots of sweat. I hadn’t seen them perform since the name change last year so I was curious to see what, if anything, about the band has changed and I’m happy to report that the Hounds of the Wild Hunt delievered a set very similar to what I would’ve expected from the group when they were known as The Whore Moans.

Most of the material performed was Hounds stuff (as opposed to Whore Moans material) so there was no “Holy Fucking Moment,” “White Noise Medley” or other Moans songs. Or at least I think it was mostly newer Hounds of the Wild Hunt material since they could’ve been playing some Whore Moans songs I hadn’t heard before. I will say this, the stuff I thought was Hounds songs sounded a bit dirtier and a bit more R&B influenced than the band’s older, more punked-up garagey material. Oh, and all of it rocked which made for a fitting close to a tremendous night of local rock ‘n’ roll.
