Record Store Day, the annual music nerd holiday when independent record stores get all sorts of limited-edition goodies to sell from indie and major labels, is April 16 and a few notable local names will be dropping by Easy Street Records in lower Queen Anne to celebrate by performing free in-store concerts.

The first in-store set of the day will be from former Guns N Roses bassist Duff McKagan’s current band Loaded. The group will perform a 2 p.m. set at the store and copies of the band’s latest album, The Taking, will be made available to purchase on vinyl.

The second in-store performance comes from local “it” band of the moment The Head and the Heart. The Sub Pop signees are on a lengthy nationwide tour and on Record Store Day Sub Pop will be reissuing the band’s self-titled debut album. The Head and the Heart are scheduled for a 6 p.m. set and it is highly recommended you arrive very early if you want to see the show.

In case you haven’t been paying attention to the Head and the Heart buzz, the band sold out the 1,200-capacity Showbox in minutes a few weeks ago. Because of such demand a second show was added at the larger Moore Theatre and that show sold out too, so getting a chance to see the band for free will likely attract a more than capacity crowd.

UPDATE: The Head and the Heart will also be performing an in-store set on Record Store Day at the much smaller Ballard Sonic Boom Records. The band is scheduled to perform at 3 p.m. (h/t Morgen)
