Pearl Jam to tour Canada in the fall

As you all know, Pearl Jam is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and details of the band’s plans for marking the occasion have been slowly making their way onto the Internet.

The latest tidbit of news involves unofficial word of a Canadian tour in September that was leaked on Twitter yesterday afternoon. I typically don’t post unofficial Pearl Jam news from Twitter, but the news came from Pearl Jam’s comrades Mudhoney who tweeted that they will be opening for Pearl Jam in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal so I take it as being pretty legit. Dates and ticket information has yet to be announced and the folks in the Pearl Jam camp have yet to confirm the tour. When all that info is made public I’ll be sure to share it here.

The Canadian tour is part of the bigger celebration which includes a documentary about the band directed by Cameron Crowe, an official autobiography, reissues of some of the band’s records, the band’s own destination festival and other festivities. No Seattle concerts have been announced (although Eddie Vedder is playing Seattle solo in July) but Vancouver is awfully close to Seattle so don’t be surprised if word of a few September Seattle dates pop up soon.
