Cameron Crowe’s PJ 20 to air on PBS

Okay, I swear this site isn’t all Pearl Jam news all the time. It just happens to be a big PJ news day and I happen to be a big Pearl Jam fan, so forgive me for spreading all the cool news throughout multiple posts.

As you likely noticed in the headline, Cameron Crowe’s Pearl Jam documentary PJ 20 will air on PBS. The film is part of the station’s American Masters series and will air on Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. PJ 20 was created from more than 1,200 hours of footage of the band throughout its 20-year history as well as 24 hours of new interviews filmed specifically for the documentary.

The film will be shown on PBS as part of the station’s first PBS Arts Fall Festival, which is “a multi-platform event, featuring nine programs with a range of artists and performances from around the country, inviting every American into the world of music, theater, dance, art and cultural history,” according to PBS.

A theatrical release, as well as an autobiographical Pearl Jam book and soundtrack coinciding with the film, is believed to be scheduled for some time in September. According to multiple sources Cameron Crowe selected the songs for the soundtrack.
