BAR – Johnny’s Theme (PSMOOV_Remix)
P Smoov, he of Mad Rad and Fresh Espresso fame, recently got his hands on Brent Amaker and the Rodeo’s calling card of a song “Johnny’s Theme” and gave it a bit of a bass-heavy boost.
BAR’s throwback outlaw country and P Smoov’s heavy hip-hop production are two sounds that shouldn’t go good together but once you get them in your ears they are oh so delicious, which makes P Smoov’s remix like a peanut butter and pickles sandwich for your ears.
The remix is being released digitally as part of a 7″ Brent Amaker and the Rodeo single. The physical Captain of the Ship 7″ will feature the title track on one side and “The Tiger Inside” on the other side. The digital release will include both tracks as well as the P Smoov remix of “Johnny’s Theme.” The single will be available May 24.
In other BAR news the group is busy working on its next full-length record and has been recording with Graig Markel. The Rodeo has plans to release another 7″ by the end of the year before it releases a new album on Speak & Shine Records in 2012.
