One Reel unveiled the music lineup for this year’s Bumbershoot and the array of artists appears to be making the 41st annual music and arts festival an event aimed at music fans as opposed to the general public. Noticeably missing are big-name headliners which have been replaced by middle-tier acts like Hall & Oates, Fitz and the Tantrums, Whiz Khalifa and Ray LaMontagne. Also, keeping in the Bumbershoot spirit a few legends are thrown in this year in the form of Leon Russel and Mavis Staples.
It looks like the lack of starpower allowed One Reel to book better middle-tier acts and as always offer up some great opportunities for local artists by loading up on Northwest talent. Acts like The Kills, Little Dragon, Warpaint and Toro Y Moi will appease the Pitchfork crowd and locals like Macklemore, Sol, Shabazz Palaces, the Lonely Forest, My Goodness, Curtains for You and many others will get their chance to shine in front of their hometown fans.
This year Bumbershoot will feature an after-hours stage at the Exhibition Hall which will be called Bumbershoot After Dark and be open between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Lineup and ticket information for that stage will be announced June 15. Another new stage for Bumbershoot is the EMP’s third-level area located atop the Science-Fiction museum. That stage will feature a local jazz showcase that was partly curated by Matt Jorgensen.
Regular daily tickets for Bumbershoot cost $35 and are on sale now. There is also the option to purchase a three-day pass for $75.
Below is the day-by-day lineup so far with recommended acts in bold. It should be noted that the Presidents of the United States of America and Brite Futures will perform on the main stage at a yet-to-be determined date.

This is a terrible lineup. Especially after last year’s Hole/Rise Against/Bob Dylan/Mary J. Blige.
Agree the bands suck!!!! Bumbershoot is dead to me. And why bring the mainstage indoors that’s dumb outdoors is so much better!
I agree with Alex, but for a different reason. Bumbershoot has always booked middle tier older acts, and the lineup this year is lame, although Hall & Oates w/ Fritz and the Tantrums looks interesting IF they do a concert similar to Live at Daryl’s House. But no Solomon Burke (one of his last shows), James Cotton, Brian Auger? Granted Leon Russel is this years Dylan, but the lack of high quality (but low visability) older acts that deserve more exposure than they get is as disturbing to me as missing “newer” acts are to others. Maybe as they release more bookings between now an Labor Day the shows will improve for all. Please?
yah im really hoping there gona announce some more acts that i like better as it gets closer to the festival that will be a SUPRISE. that would be nice considering i bought a three day pass before the line up was out. also the comedy should be good i hope
so far though im a bit dissapointed
