Tonight: Sleeper Agent @ the Vera Project

Bummed that your weekend is almost over? Not looking forward to the impending case of the Mondays that faces you in the morning?

Well, you can’t control the inevitability of Monday arriving since, ya know, Mondays shows up once a week and all, but you can control how you end your weekend. And what better way to end your weekend than to enjoy a spirited rock show? This is why Guerrilla Candy recommends you cap your weekend by checking out Bowling Green, Kentucky, band Sleeper Agent.

If you’re thinking there’s another band from Bowling Green that recently rose to fame on the radio airwaves you’d be right and that band is Cage the Elephant. You can almost think of Sleeper Agent as the bubblegum version of Cage. They appear to have the same spirit as their Bowling Green buddies but their songs are a bit less edgy (and British-sounding).  The band’s debut record, Celebrasion, is an ear-pleasing mixture of pop harmonies paired with youthful rock n’ roll boogie. It’s definitely a winning combination and the album is well worth seeking out, especially if you want to latch on to a potential breakout band of 2012.

Check out the video for “Get It Daddy,’ the first track off the record, above and if you dig it go ahead and download the song via the widget below. It’s a solid representation of what Celebrasion sounds like and it’ll give you a good taste of what to expect tonight at the Vera Project. It’ll also give you something to plug into your ears tomorrow morning when you are avoiding all those unnecessary TPS reports and daydreaming about going all Office Space on the Xerox machine.
