Happy 50th birthday Mark Arm

Today is local music icon and Sub Pop mainstay Mark Arm’s 50th birthday. Arm is not only responsible for coining the term grunge but is of course also the frontman for Mudhoney, Sub Pop’s warehouse manager and was a member of several local bands throughout the 80s including the Thrown Ups, Mr Epp and most notably Green River.

Although Mark has reached the half century mark anyone who has seen Mudhoney live recently knows he isn’t letting age slow him down. In fact, the band has some new material and a documentary about Mudhoney’s career has been completed, although its release is currently being held up due to a licensing battle with Warner Bros. So since there aren’t may clips available from the Mudhoney documentary to share, here are a few YouTube videos of some of my favorite Mark Arm/Mudhoney songs and performances.
