Watch: Daydream Vacation’s ‘Clever’s Not My Best Excuse’

We first heard of Daydream Vacation, the  collaboration between Dave Einmo of Head Like A Kite and Asya de Saavedra of Smoosh, last summer. Back then the group was a fledgling young band working on putting together some songs for a record that would properly introduce Daydream Vacation to the world.

That record is almost completely and today the band released a video for the song “Clever’s Not My Best Excuse” in advance of the upcoming album which will be called Dare Seize the Fire and is slated for release later this year. It’s a fun clip that reflects the playful nature of both HLAK and Smoosh. Props to Einmo for rocking the purple Teletubby costume, although I prefer the green one. Check it out the video above.

Now notice that I said the record is almost complete. The band has a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the record and there are quite a few perks you can receive if you contribute to the cause. Some of the rewards for donating include a private concert by Smoosh, Head Like a Kite and Daydream Vacation, Einmo cooking dinner for you in your home, limited-edition t-shirts and CDs and other offerings depending on your level of donation. The Kickstarter campaign is running until March 25 and you can donate here.

If a Kickstarter campaign isn’t your preferred method of supporting a musical project you can catch Daydream Vacation live at the Crocodile March 16 with Head Like A Kite, NighTraiN and SPORTS ($10, 8 p.m.).
