Listen: ‘Fight’ by Nouela

Nouela “Fight” by Controlgroupco

If you’ve been paying attention to local music the past decade then chances are the name Nouela Johnston may sound familiar. She is the former vocalist for the hard and heavy Mon Frere and the more delicate People Eating People, which was responsible for one of Guerilla Candy’s favorite records of 2009.

Now Johnston is back with a solo project which is simply called Nouela. “Fight,” the first bit of music from that project was released today and like the song is another beautiful departure from her past works. Go ahead and give it a listen above. Her solo debut, Chants, is slated for release June 12 and while you wait for the record’s release you can see Nouela live tomorrow at Chop Suey, April 27 at The Comet or June 10 at the Sunset.
