Eddie Vedder – Skipping

Eddie Vedder contributed the song “Skipping” to the benefit compilation Every Mother Counts. The album benefits the organization Every Mother Counts, which is an advocacy gropup that works to increase the support of and education for global maternal mortality reduction. The record is set for release May 1 and will be sold exclusively at Starbucks through May 29.

Vedder’s contribution is a tender, non-ukulele ballad about the relationship between a parent and child. It’s a very touching song that interestingly features Vedder singing over double-tracked vocals. Like most of Vedder’s solo material the song wouldn’t necessarily fit in on a Pearl Jam record but it is a wonderful expression of where he happens to be at this point in his life.

Along with the track from Vedder, the 19-song compilation features Bono and the Edge, Beck, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Sade, David Bowie and others. The full track list is below.
