Summer Meltdown gets Beats Antique, Blitzen Trapper, Vicci Martinez & more

The lineup for the annual Summer Meltdown Festival was revealed this morning and it features a broad mix of jam bands, soul groups, electronic dance artists and a healthy dose of local talent.

Some of the names topping the bill include Beats Antique, EOTO and Kraddy — all of which will bring in the electronic dance music fans. On the local front Guerrilla Candy favorites Moondoggies, Vicci Martinez, Hot Bodies in Motion and Pickwick are in the mix, and groups like Polyrhytmics and Five Alarm Funk fill part of the grooving jam vibe the festival is known for. Other  names of note include Blitzen Trapper, El Ten Eleven, Ha Ha Tonka and Polecat. Twenty-eight artists have been announced so far with more acts to be announced soon.

The festival takes place between Aug. 10-12 at the Whitehorse Amphitheatre in the fairly remote small town of Darrington. The venue grounds are sandwiched between a mountain and a river and are roughly 90 miles northeast of Seattle with a capacity of 5,000, which allows Summer Meltdown to offer a relatively intimate festival experience. Anyone looking to get away from the city while filling a Jonesing for a music festival during the time between Block Party and Bumbershoot should give Summer Meltdown a shot.

Various ticket options are available for the festival. Currently it’s $120 for  a Thursday through pass (they jump  to $150 after June 1). For $100 you can get a pass good for both Saturday and Sunday. Single-day tickets cost $30 for Thursday, $50 for Friday, $50 for Sunday and $65 for Saturday. Youth tickets for ages 9-15 cost between $40 and $100. All tickets include tent camping costs. Vehicle camping costs extra. Complete ticket pricing information can be found here.
