Video premiere: Hot Bodies in Motion ‘That Darkness’

Oh how time flies.

Seems like just yesterday I was proclaiming Hot Bodies in Motion and their soulful, blusey funk one of my favorite local music discoveries after listening to their debut EP Old Habits. Today the band is introducing new music to the world (well, to the Internet anyway) with a clip for the song “That Darkness” and I’m very excited to premiere the video, especially considering the band helped christen this site,

The video is essentially four guys playing  a song together filmed in one take, which is about as straight-forward as you can get. But that’s not a bad thing since it showcases Hot Bodies in their element doing what they do best in delivering the goods live. And here’s a fun fact, the video was filmed in HBIM guitarist Scott Paul Johnson’s woodshop which is where he handmade the two guitars used in the video.

The song will be on the band’s upcoming sophomore full-length which is set to be recorded in June/July with producer Martin Feveyear (Mudhoney, Sirens Sister, Damien Jurado) and is one of several songs the group will unveil leading up to  the album’s release. If “That Darkness” is any indication of what to expect from those studio sessions then it looks like Hot Bodies will have another scorching hot album to add to their catalog.
