Opportunity Rocks Offers bands a chance to play Bumbershoot

One Reel recently announced the Opportunity Rocks contest which will provide one lucky band with slots to perform at both the Family Fourth at Lake Union and Bumbershoot.

The contest is open to bands with members who are under the age of 25 and the winning performance slots will be for the Starbucks stage at Bumbershoot and the Microsoft stage at the Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival on the Fourth of July. Other performers taking the stage on the latter are Hey Marseilles, Star Anna and the Laughing Dogs and Campfire Ok.

To enter the contest bands can submit up to three videos of performances of original songs on the contest’s website. From there a jury will select a group of semifinalists. Those semifinalists will be showcased online and the public will get to vote on the winner.

Not only is this contest a great way to gain exposure for young bands, but both gigs are paid so it’s a way to make a little bit of money too. If you want to enter better act fast because the deadline for entry is June 11.
