Deep Sea Diver‘s History Speaks is one of my favorite local albums of the year. It’s a record you have to seek out as the band doesn’t play a lot locally (likely due to bandleader Jessica Dobson’s day job as touring guitarist for The Shins, and before that job she played guitar for Beck and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, so she’s been a pretty busy woman) and you don’t read their names in the music media too much. But trust me it’s a record worth making a trip to Bandcamp to purchase.
Today the band released a video for the track “NWO” and while the song isn’t as poppy as History Speaks first single “You Go Running” it is a good representation of the album and the video acts as a nice way to fill the time until Deep Sea Diver’s next Seattle show, which is at Bumbershoot on Sept. 2.
