Macklemore & Ryan Lewis announce new album, WaMu Theater show

File this one under it’s about time.

Okay, so it hasn’t been that long since Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released their Vs. EP but it sure does feel like a long time since the one of The Town’s most popular hip-hop duos (they’re creepin on ya Blue Scholars) has dropped a new record. Perhaps it seems that way because a lot has happened in the world of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis during the perceived lengthy gap in releases. After all, it’s only been two years, but that may as well be a decade in rapper years.

Well, the wait for new music from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis is over because earlier today they announced their new album, The Heist, will be released Oct. 9. The release is being labeled the pair’s debut album, which is technically true since they haven’t released a full-length album together, but any local hip-hop head will tell you Macklemore has solid solo back catalog and Ryan Lewis has been doing his thing for quite some time too. Maybe the “debut” tag was added to emphasize the pair’s XXL Freshmen 2012 status. Oh, record labels.

The release of the record will be followed by a world tour — yes, that’s a world tour — which  kicks off Oct. 12 at WaMu Theater.  Ticket information is not yet available, but Macklemore’s website lists this link to buy tickets so maybe if you visit there in a few days there will be all the info you need to satisfy your ticket-buying needs.
