Block Party is loaded with local talent. By taking a quick glance at the lineup it looks like more than half of the 100 bands that will be taking over Pike Street and its outlying areas are from the greater Northwest music scene. You’ll probably be checking out the likes of Allen Stone, Lemolo, Father John Misty and the other big locals on the bill, but Block Party features so many amazing local artists it’d be a waste of a ticket if you didn’t check out at least a few of the other locals on the bill. Earlier this week I wrote about a few artists I consider to be pals who are performing this weekend, here are a few locals I’ve never met but I strongly encourage you to consider checking out at Block Party.
Kithkin (4:00 Sunday, Vera stage)
Once you get past the face paint, there’s some really great spirited and youthful rock to be found here.
Reignwolf (6:30 Saturday, Neumos)
Get on this bandwagon NOW. Seriously, I can’t believe he’s playing Neumos and not the main stage. Don’t miss this set.
Sandrider (7:30 Saturday, Barboza)
Loud local rock. As an added bonus they signed to Good To Die Records which puts out great albums.
Kung Foo Grip (5:00 Friday, Vera stage)
One of the most promising younger hip-hop groups in The Town, KFG will be a great beginning to your Block Party experience.
Beat Connection (4:45 Saturday, Main stage)
These guys will make you dance. Guaranteed.
