Watch: Lana Del Rey covers Nirvana’s ‘Heart Shaped Box’

Lana Del Rey performed a cover of “Heart Shaped Box” during a show in Australia recently and the video clip has music critic folks getting all fussy and cranky on the Internet. Is it good? Is it bad? Should she even have attempted to tackle a cover of song by such a sacred cow? Seems like the girl can never win. Watch the clip above and decide for yourself what to make of LDR’s take on Nirvana.

  1. If she’s inspired by the song, she should try it. Music critics getting fussy and cranky is about the least important reason to avoid performing a song that I can think of. Live performances are about the artist and the crowd, if they’re into it who really gives a bleep what the critics have to say?

A glorious failure can only occur if you try for too much, and I’d rather see a glorious failure than a limp safe performance any day.
