Tonight: Smokey Brights brings new music to the High Dive

Two of my favorite things in local music will collide tonight in Fremont when the Smokey Brights (one of my favorite local bands) play a set at the High Dive (one of my favorite local venues) and you should be there.

The last time I checked in on the Smokies they were working on some new arrangements of old tunes and beginning to stretch their musical wings by trading in their harmonious borderline folk for a bit of a more amped-up rock style. Tonight they are releasing a brand new 7″ featuring two excellent songs, “No Sheer Force of Will” and “Silhouettes,” which you can listen to below.

You’ll get to hear those songs and more at the High Dive when Smokey Brights headline a bill with Washover Fans and Invisible Shivers (9:30 p.m., $8) so get on over to Fremont and spend your Friday night boogieing down with the Smokies.
