Soundgarden to play the Paramount Feb. 7 & 8

Earlier this week it was reported that Soundgarden would play two shows in Seattle next year but at the time the dates and locations of the shows were unknown. Today Soundgarden revealed its 2013 winter tour and on that tour they will play the Paramount Theatre Feb. 7 and 8. Tickets for both shows go on sale to Soundgarden fanclub members Nov. 12. The public on-sale date for the Seattle show is Nov. 17.

The Paramount is an interesting choice for a venue. The band will undoubtedly sound great at the theater but it is a rather small place, in terms of capacity, for the band to play a hometown show. There’s going to be a big demand to see Soundgarden since the last time the band played Seattle proper it was at the much more intimate Showbox at the Market and it was nearly impossible to get tickets. I suppose that’s why they’re playing two shows at the Paramount, in order to meet demand, but don’t be surprised if a lot of fans are left without tickets since the shows will likely sell out in minutes.

Along with announcing a tour the band also revealed the video for “Been Away Too Long,” which is the first single off King Animal. Watch the video below.

  1. I am one of those heartbroken fans that are left without tickets. I am from Seattle & I Love Soundgarden! I have been a huge fan from the begining & I will continue to be forever! I was so bummed when I was unable to get 2 tickets on Thursday 11-15-12 & again today 11-17-12 for one of the two shows at the Seattle Paramount Theatre. I tried both days at 10am by phone & on-line with no luck. I am probably not the only fan that is in tears over this. Yes, I cried. I am & will continue to search for 2 tickets that I can afford. Sadly, a lot of true Soundgarden fans will miss this show! I believe that a lot of tickets were purchased by individuals who just want to make more money off of them & they are most likely not real fans of the band. I hope that more tickets become available or hey guys… how about a third show for your true fans that did not get a chance to get tickets? All I want for christmas is 2 Soundgarden tickets in Seattle! XO…

  2. Went through the same thing, fan club member, and tried the general sale, both at the start of the offering. Made me wonder about the whole process. Tons of tickets available online at marked up prices. Shady deal.
