Paul McCartney to perform with surviving members of Nirvana

To quote a famous song: “I read the news today, oh boy …”

They say 12-12-12 marks the end of days and that just may as well be true given today’s news that Paul McCartney will join Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic onstage to perform songs (or maybe just a song) by Nirvana at today’s Hurricane Sandy 12-12-12 benefit concert.

According to British paper The Sun, Grohl asked Macca to play with him and Krist at the benefit.

“I didn’t really know who they were,” McCartney told the paper. “They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said, ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time? And somebody whispered to me, ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.”
