It’s not very often a hip-hop act wins EMP Museum’s annual Sound Off! competition  In fact, in the 12 years EMP has been hosting the underage battle of the bands, only one hip-hop artist has taken the crown (Dyno Jamz 2009). This is one of many reasons why you should check out Dave B’s new EP which was released today.

Sound Off! tends to cultivate some of the best young, local talent and Dave B, who won this year’s contest, is no exception. The young MC shows loads of potential with his seven-song offering, The Coffee EP. I recommend teh track “DTRT” for a good sampling of skills. Here’s what Dave B’s camp had to say about The Coffee EP:

Put together as a sort of ‘wake up’ for fans and critics, The Coffee EP is a quick 7 track PSA from Dave on his current position in hip-hop, the future he so eagerly awaits and the potential he believes he and his team possess for success in the coming months to years.
