Did Tad Doyle reveal a Soundgarden appearance at Sub Pop’s Jubilee?

In case you didn’t hear, Sub Pop Records is turning 25 this year and to celebrate the label is throwing an all-ages party in Georgetown July 13. The Sub Pop Silver Jubilee will feature performances by Mudhoney, Greg Dulli, Shabazz Palaces w/THEESatisfaction, J Mascis, Father John Misty, Shearwater, Pissed Jeans, The Baptist Generals, Endino’s Earthworms (feat. Jack Endino) and Brothers of the Sonic Cloth. The latter set will feature original TAD guitarist Gary Thorstensen and will include songs from TAD’s three Sub Pop albums, which for me is a really big deal because TAD rules!

Sub Pop gathered up four of the label’s more well-known associates — Kim Thayil, Mark Arm, Jack Endino and Tad Doyle — to record a humorous video in the industrial Georgetown neighborhood. Near the end of the clip Doyle mouths one of the bands that will be performing and it looks an awful lot like he’s saying Soundgaren. Of course this is Sub Pop we’re dealing with and the part in question comes during the most humorous part of the video so this speculation comes with a grain of salt. Doyle could have been saying Hound Pardon, or Round Largent or a number of other things that rhyme with Soundgarden. Or hey. perhaps he was saying TADgarden, which wouldn’t be too shabby of a consolation prize. Watch the video above and speculate for yourself when Doyle comes in around the one-minute mark and find out if he was actually saying anything at all on July 13.

Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee takes place July 13 in Georgetown. The event is free but a $5 donation is suggested. All proceeds from the donations will go to local charities like 90.3FM KEXP, Northwest Harvest and the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation. Anyone who donates $5 will receive a limited-edition tote bag.
