Celebrate the Everett Music Initiative tonight

For the past year my colleague up north, Steven Graham, and his friend Ryan Crowther have been hard at work helping develop a music scene in Everett and not only is their hard work impressive and commendable, it is beginning to pay off.

For starters, Steven made his blog, What Radio, which is hosted by the Everett Herald, a respectable destination for local music news that’s become a daily must-visit for anyone interested in the local music scene. And more recently they both helped develop a killer free summer concert series in Everett featuring several Guerrilla Candy favorites through his work with the Everett Music Initiative.

Speaking of the Everett Music Initiative, tonight marks the organization’s one-year anniversary and they’re celebrating with a spectacular show.

What’s the Everett Music Initiative and what are the details of said show? I’m glad you asked. Here’s the scoop straight from Steven Graham himself.

“The Everett Music Initiative started when Ryan Crowther contacted a few of us in the community and we decided Everett needed a music scene. Our goal is to show all of the great artists between Portland and BC that Everett is a viable option when touring and get those bands to come play!

We have had bands like Daydream Vacation/HLAK, Grizzled Mighty, Eternal Fair, River Giant, Madcaps, Kithkin and Ravenna Woods.
Our May show with the Moondoggies, Motopony, Hot Bodies In Motion and River Giant is not only a homecoming for The Moondoggies (maybe the biggest thing out of Everett since Kenny Loggins) but is it also our one-year anniversary of the Everett Music Initiative putting on at least one show every month.”
Trust me, Motopony, Moondoggies, Hot Bodies in Motion and River Giant all in the same night will make for a great show that’s well worth the trek up I-5. So head to Everett tonight and party in the land of Boeing and Aquasox at the Everett Theater.
Oh, and Steven, I don’t know if the Moondoggies are bigger than Kenny Loggins but they have to at least be the biggest thing out of Everett since Chris Cornell.
