Watch: Macklemore’s 2013 VMA performance with Jennifer Hudson

A big congratulations to hometown boys Macklemore & Ryan Lewis who made their MTV VMA debut last night by not only performing “Same Love” with Jennifer Hudson, but also by winning three Moonmen. The current Rolling Stone cover star won trophies for Best Rap Video (“Can’t Hold Us”), Best Cinematography (“Can’t Hold Us”) and Best Video With A Social Message (“Same Love”).

At the end of the night, Mack & Ryan walked away with three out of the six awards they were nominated for. They tied Justin Timberlake for the most nominations in 2013 as well as the most wins in contested categories (JT won a total of four VMAs if you include his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award win). And here’s a small bit of MTV and Macklemore trivia for you. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are the only artists to perform at MTV’s three flagship awards shows (MTVu Woodies, VMAs, MTV Movie Awards) in the same year.
