For Your Consideration: HARPS

For Your Consideration is a semi-regular feature on Guerrilla Candy that looks at the lesser-knowns of the local music community

Initially formed in 2011 by current frontman and recent Seattle-transplant Colin Brown, HARPS began as a musical adventure after the disbanding of his Columbia, SC-based band Marry A Thief.  The band began to take shape after his relocation to Seattle in early 2012 with the addition of drummer Nick Molenda (Allen Stone, Carson Henley, Tess Henley).  Bassist Brian Salvage (Hooves) and female lead/pianist Brooke Bower (River and Reeds) were added soon after and represent the current lineup.

The electronic pop outfit recently released their five-song debut EP, Marvelous Cheer, and performed at Colossal Fest at El Corazon earlier this month.  Fans of The Postal Service and Muse will really dig the sound of HARPS.

If you’re in the Seattle area, check them out at Barboza next Wednesday (February 5) with Gentlemen Hall and Basic Vacation.  Unfortunately, the Basic Vacation/Gentlemen Hall West Coast tour has been postponed.  Sign up for HARPS’s mailing list to find out about upcoming shows.
