The Anywhere Shows, Episode 2: Mike McCready & Friends

For the second episode of The Anywhere Shows we hit the red carpet of the MusiCares Concert for Recovery honoring Mike McCready and interview the man of the hour, Mike McCready. We also talk with Nancy Wilson from Heart, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Social Distortion’s Mike Ness and Mad Season’s Barrett Martin.

Duff McKagan hands Mike McCready the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award at the MusiCares Concert for Recovery honoring Mike McCready.

Nancy Wilson gives her thoughts about what it takes to have longevity as a rock star and shares a touching story about she helped Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard transition into Pearl Jam after the death of Andy Wood. Mike Ness talks about his friendship with McCready. Barrett Martin shares his thoughts about sobriety, spirituality and the artist’s path. And Chad Smith reminisces about the Chili Peppers bringing Pearl Jam with them on their first big tour.

Along with interviewing rock stars, we also talked with MoPOP Senior Curator Jacob McMurray, who is working on “Pearl Jam: Home & Away,” an exhibit that chronicles Pearl Jam’s 28-year career. He tells us what it’s been like working on such a massive undertaking and what fans can expect when the exhibit opens Aug. 11.

We hope you enjoy this episode and please reach out and tell us why Pearl Jam is important to you, give us suggestions for future guests, or send us feedback at theanywhereshows@gmail.com.
