Macklemore to reissue VS with remixes by Jake One, P Smoov & more

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ VS was one of my favorite local releases of 2009.

The seven-song EP mixes combines Macklemore’s mad microphone skills with some flat-out awesome production by Ryan Lewis that pits Mack’s words against a backdrop of modern rock including samples by Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Beirut and more.

Earlier this morning Macklemore, the ever-so-popular Tweeter, dropped an interesting tidbit of news on Twitter regarding VS. Macklemore said he and Ryan Lewis were working on a Jake One remix for a track off VS that will be included on a reissue of the EP. When probed by yours truly and a few other folks on Twitter Macklemore revealed the release will also include remixes by P Smoov, Budo and, of course Ryan Lewis.

The reissue will drop Oct. 20 and be made available at the local hip-hop showcase at the Paramount which will be part of City Arts Fest.
