Video premiere: Katie Kate’s ‘Constellation’

Katie Kate has been a Guerrilla Candy favorite ever since she rocked Ear Candy’s my birthday party back in March. Anyone who was there will not only attest to the quality of her music but also to the charisma and energy she gives off while performing. She’ll have you shaking your ass while busting a move and her rhyming skills will leave you with your jaw on the floor. Or at least that was the case for me the first time I saw her perform.

That’s why today I am extremely thrilled to debut Katie Kate’s video for “Constellation.” If I were to describe the clip in one word it would have to be Technicolor. Go ahead and click play to find out what I mean.

If you aren’t already sold on Ms. Kate’s skills and potential, another reason to hop on board the Katie Kate bandwagon is her triple threat skillset. She’s a rapper, a singer and a classically trained pianist. Okay, so maybe that last skill might not seem like it would help a sista out in the mostly-male dominated world of 206 hip-hop, but I’m guessing it comes in handy when composing songs and creating beats.

The next chance you’ll be able to see her live is Nov. 19 at the Comet when she shares a bill with Fly Moon Royalty and Guerrilla Candy favs No-Fi Soul Rebellion. As mentioned earlier, Katie Kate rocked a bill on my birthday at Nectar and that show also included No-Fi Soul Rebellion. That was one poppin’ party at a pretty decent-sized venue. Place those two in the much smaller Comet and chances are you’ll find yourself in the middle of a dance party you won’t soon forget.

For more reasons to head to the Comet Nov. 19 give a listen to the two tracks “Bodyout Princess” and “Uh … no” below.”
