Thanks for the feedback, Joe. I’m not at all advocating for Doe Bay Fest (DBF) to become the Gorge experience, so apologies if it read that way. I was simply comparing DBF to other fests I’d attended, ultimately saying DBF is worlds apart in a good way. I spoke with many who had attended previous DB Fests, and to a majority, the festival was growing too big for their tastes and they preferred the intimacy of previous years. I thought it was an interesting question to address, and my only other festival comparison was to the “Gorge experience” fests. I think there are good arguments on both sides, but either way, I hope DBF continues to flourish each year.

It is funny to read this from my perspective because Doe Bay is perhaps the coolest place in the world and there would be no reason to bring a Gorge experience to Doe Bay. We do music and art and literature and poetry and theater at Doe Bay year round. The only question about Doe Bay Fest was whether I could do it on a larger scale and still have it work. I would only invite that many people to DB if it seemed reasonably possible that they would have a Doe Bay experience. I know they know how to have a musicfest experience.
So come back up and bring your own ingredients.
