Tonight: Boogie down with Old 97s & Langhorne Slim

Old 97’s & Langhorne Slim// 7 pm // $20

Old 97s change their sound relentlessly. Although they are considered pioneers of the mid-90s alt-country movement, their discography includes a range of musical stylings from good old fashioned country to power-pop to punk and beyond. It’s like they’ve got musical ants in their pants and just can’t manage to sit still.

Because Old 97s are talented musicians, this constant drifting between genres actually works really well. Late last year the Texas-based band released their eighth album Grand Theatre Volume 1 with volume two to be release sometime this year. Also, remember when Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn when to see Old 97s in that movie, The Break Up? That was really weird. I’m glad they’ve moved passed that.
