Owl City coming to the Paramount in July

Owl City is a band that has a bad reputation among Seattle’s music snobs and rightfully so considering the main complaint is that the band sounds strikingly similar to The Postal Service and the group has more or less admitted to ripping off the Ben Gibbard side project. Making things worse is that Owl City also has a song called “Hello Seattle” which hasn’t warmed many hearts of local music critics in the Emerald City.

Despite claims of plagiarism and the lack of critical acclaim the band still sells out theaters around the country and has a large fanbase of young teen girls who cling to every word out of Owl City’s Adam Young. Unlike The Postal Service Owl City isn’t content with having success with only one record so the band is set to release its sophomore album, All Things Bright and Beautiful, May 17. A single has yet to be released but chances are it will sound good being sampled by Blue Scholars.

To support the album’s release the band will launch a summer tour and that tour comest to the Paramount Theater July 15. Ticket information is not currently available.
