Tonight: Ari Hest at the Tractor

To call Ari Hest prolific would be an understatement.

Hest has recorded and released 12 EPs and albums since 1999 and a few years back he recorded one song every Monday for a year and let his fans vote on their 12 favorite tracks to create the album Twelve Mondays. Earlier this month he followed that up with Sunset Over Hope Street, his first full-length record of original material in four years. The record strays a bit from Hest’s previous material with piano, stings and various percussion instruments playing a more prominent role in his music as opposed to the guitar songwriting he’s best known for. When he performs at the Tractor Tavern tonight you can expect a wide sampling of songs from throughout his career with an emphasis on Sunset Over Hope Street.

You can get a taste of Hest and his prolific catalog during an early show at the Tractor Tavern ($15, 6 p.m.). Also on the bill is Dan Bern. Tickets ca be purchased here.
