Tad Doyle entering the studio this month

Tad Doyle, formerly of the titans of local rock who were simply known as TAD, has been keeping himself pretty busy during his post-grunge days.

A few years back he and the rest of TAD were the subject of the excellent documentary TAD: Busted Circuits and Ringing Ears and he started a new band called Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, a group that rivals his old band in the loudness department. He also turned part of his Skyway home into a recording studio where he works with other like-minded loud locals and helps produce their albums.

Despite all that activity there hasn’t been much news to report on regarding Doyle aside from a few BOTSC shows here and there and a split 10″ single with Mico De Noche that was released back in 2009. That changed last month when Doyle took to Twitter to announce that he and his band are entering his studio at the middle of this month to record a Brothers of the Sonic Cloth album.

While TAD was a straight-up hard rock band and was as influential in the development of grunge as Mudhoney, the Melvins and other locals of the era who are occasionally forgotten by critics,  BOTSC fits more into the psychedelic drone metal department which should make the debut full-length record from BOTSC an interesting departure for Doyle and a great addition to the canon of local hard rock records.
