Fastbacks to reunite this summer

The Fastbacks

Looks like July is shaping up to be quite the month for local music.

First it’s announced Soundgarden will finally be playing a proper concert in this state. Then the lineup for the Capitol Hill Block Party is revealed and now the latest piece of musical bliss coming our way is a one-off reunion set by The Fastbacks.

The band will be headlining West Seattle Summer Fest July 8 with the lineup of Kurt Bloch, Kim Warnick, Lulu Gargiulo and Mike Musburger. The show will be the band’s first performance in 10 years.

Here’s what Warnick and Musburger had to say about the reunion on wsjunction.org:

“I never thought I’d get the chance to play these songs again with Kurt, Lulu and Kim.  They have about 15 other drummers they could’ve asked to be a part of  this reunion.  It will be an absolute joy and an honor to be on stage with The Fastbacks at the West Seattle Summer Fest,” said Musburger.

Warnick said she is looking forward to playing the old Fastbacks material again.

“I still cherish those songs of ours so much … so much so that I  am willing to re-learn them all. School starts now! I think it goes without  saying that we are all really excited about this show. Sounds ultra fun and  punk. Otherwise, what’s the point? Nada,” she told the website.

Oh, there’s one more detail about the reunion that should be noted. It’s free.

West Seattle Summer Fest takes place July 8-10 at the West Seattle Junction.
