The Melvins attempt a Guinness world record

Montesano’s favorite sons, The Melvins, will attempt to be the first band to tour all 50 states and Washington, D.C. in 51 days on their upcoming tour to support their newest offering Freak Puke, which was released today. The tour will feature the modified Melvins lineup of Melvins Lite which is Buzz Osbourne, Dale Crover and bassist Trevor Dunn.

Freak Puke is a Melvins Lite release and it is definitely a departure for the loud and heavy Melvins. The album features Dunn on upright bass which gives most of the songs an odd, somewhat free-form jazz sound. It definitely puts a bit of freak in the Melvins’ sound.

The Seattle date for the band’s tour is Sept. 6 at Showbox at the Market. Tickets for the show cost $18 and go on sale Friday.
