It’s been a few years since local musical raconteur and unofficial mayor of West Seattle Brent Amaker made some noise with his band of merry cowboys The Rodeo.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer to hear what Mr. Amaker has been up to.

On June 15 he will drop his first solo single, titled “Goodbye,” as a limited picture disc vinyl release. To celebrate its release Amaker is taking his band, The Rodeo, on the road for a brief seven-date tour. That tour hist places like Palm Springs, Portland, Reno, Boise and, of course, Seattle. The Seattle show will go down June 22 at the Crocodile and it’s a guaranteed good time.

Brent Amaker and the Rodeo, or BAR as they’re sometimes called, puts on an excellent show that’s equal parts theatrical and musical. You’re always in for some fun and mischief when The Rodeo is in town and you never quite know what you’re going to get.

Sometimes you get burlesque dancers with pasties onstage grooving to the tunes. Sometimes you get shots of whiskey being poured into the crowd as part of the band’s notorious “whiskey baptism.” Sometimes Amaker lords over men dressed in BDSM outfits, gets a shave and eats a steak. Every time you get a set filled with good-old fashioned country tunes played to perfection.

Each BAR experience is memorable and unique so don’t sleep on picking up your tickets to Amaker’s “Goodbye” show.
