Jeff Ament details his upcoming album ‘Heaven/Hell’

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament is releasing his third solo album, titled “Heaven/Hell,” later this year.

The 11-track record, which is being released on Pearl Jam’s Monkeywrench Records, is scheduled for release May 10. Ament is releasing it under the name Ament, and its lead single “Safe in the Car” features two of his Pearl Jam bandmates, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron, as well as acclaimed up-and-coming vocalist Angel Olsen on backup vocals. You can watch the video for the track below.

Ament had this to say to Rolling Stone about recording the record

“I usually end up having a group of songs that goes to the band, and then there are songs that don’t feel right, or they feel too personal. Maybe I get too far down the road with them lyrically, and I’m either apprehensive to give them to Ed, or it just feels better for it to be in my voice. You keep working on these songs, and all of a sudden you have maybe a little group of three or four.”
