The Presidents of the USA are up to something

UPDATE 2/3/20: The band has activated its website and posted a message stating “Coming soon Feb. 17,” which is naturally Presidents Day.

It’s been a minute since joyful rockers The Presidents of the United States of America have made some noise.

The trio of peppy and playful musicians officially broke up in 2016, however, the split was an amicable one. In fact, the breakup announcement even had the good old “never say never” statement included regarding a potential reunion. And now it looks like that caveat is coming into play with a small flurry of activity coming out of the Presidents’ oval office.

Late last year the band reunited for an unannounced gig during a private party at Slim’s Last Chance Saloon. And earlier this year the group started an Instagram account and began updating its Facebook and Twitter accounts regularly. As part of those updates the group has been using the hashtag #PUSA25 and yesterday the band revealed its website will be relaunching soon.

So what does this all mean? It could mean a lot of different things. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the group’s self-title debut, so a reissue could be on the way. With the reunion gig there could also be a few shows on the horizon. Or, all of this could just be a way for the band to reclaim its brand and sell some official merch on its own website in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

All of those possibilities are speculation for now. Hopefully the meaning of #PUSA25 will be revealed soon.
