Coldplay to christen Climate Pledge Arena Oct. 22

Multiplatinum global superstars Coldplay will headline Climate Pledge Arena’s first concert Oct. 22.

The show will mark the grand opening of the arena and will be streamed live on Amazon. You can register for the verified fan presale through Ticketmaster here.

Amazon purchased the naming rights to the new venue (which is actually one of the city’s oldest concert venues if you’re counting the Seattle Collesium days) and is helping efforts to make Climate Pledge Arena the world’s first certified carbon-neutral area. That mission aligns well with Coldplay’s global humanitarian efforts.

Climate Pledge Arena will be home to the National Hockey League expansion franchise the Seattle Kraken as well as WNBA champions the Seattle Storm. It was built with the intention of having sports teams as anchor tenants while also hosting concerts and other events.

The Venue Formerly Known As KeyArena underwent significant upgrades to its acoustics and soundsystem in an effort to make it one of the top 10 concert venues in the world. A grand opening concert featuring an all-star lineup of hometown talent was reportedly in the works, but plans were changed due to the pandemic.
