Guerrilla Candy’s favorite albums of 2023

As I look back and reflect on what albums I enjoyed the most in 2023 I noticed there wasn’t a whole lot of new music that resonated with me this year. By new music, I mean music by artists who debuted in 2023 or artists who aren’t normally in regular rotation at Guerrilla Candy HQ.

Does this mean there is no good new music out there? No, not at all. There’s plenty of good new music to be found, I just didn’t go out of my way to find it this year. Does this mean I am getting old and finding comfort in familiarity by listening to mostly newly released records from legacy artists I tend to enjoy? Yes, yes it does. Is that a bad thing? No, not at all.

So here are 10 albums this old music nerd enjoyed quite a bit in 2023.

Paramore “This Is Why”

Czarface “Czartificial Intelligence”

Queens of the Stone Age “In Times New Roman…”

Phoenix “Alpha Zulu”

Iggy Pop “Every Loser”

The Hold Steady “The Price of Progress”

Mudhoney “Plastic Eternity”

Atmosphere “Talk Talk EP”

Metallica “72 Seasons”

Brad “In The Moment That You’re Born”
