Pearl Jam begin rollout of new album ‘Dark Matter’

To quote the great Penny Lane, “It’s all happening.”

That’s right, Pearl Jam is beginning to roll out their upcoming 12th studio album.

The band debuted the album during a private listening event in Los Angeles yesterday, according to a report by Spin Magazine. The record, which is titled “Dark Matter” was produced by Andrew Watt and the lead single, “Wreckage,” is expected to be released in the coming days.

Watt produced Eddie Vedder’s 2022 solo album “Earthlings,” and reportedly some of the songs on the new Pearl Jam album “nod to the chiming, acoustic-flavored sound of the late Tom Petty,” according to Spin. Vedder’s solo album also had hints of Tom Petty sprinkled throughout its 13 songs. Additionally, Spin reported that the album features “several intense rockers” with Mike McCready’s guitar solos and Matt Cameron’s drumming being standout elements.

A thread on Pearl Jam’s Ten Club forums says song titles include the following:

Upper Hand
Setting Sun
Dark Matter
Scared Of Fear
React/Respond
Running
Something Special
Wreckage
Waiting For Stevie

A release date has not been revealed but it is rumored the record will be out in April with a US tour taking place in May. That tour is expected to have at least five dates in the Pacific Northwest including two dates in Vancouver, B.C., one in Portland and two at Climate Pledge Arena.
