Watch Gossip’s pro-queer, pro-gay, pro-trans rights, completely awesome Nirvana cover

In case you hadn’t heard, Gossip are back.

While we wait for the group to hopefully return to its Northwest roots and play a few shows locally, we can enjoy their comeback thanks to performances from across the pond.

Gossip recently performed at a BBC music festival and from the looks of it they delivered one helluva show. As expected, they closed their set with their hit single “Standing in the Way of Control.” What wasn’t expected was how brilliantly the group transitioned from the searing political statement that is “Standing in the Way of Control” into the anthemic “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Both songs are bangers in their own ways and the Nirvana cover alone would have made for a memorable set closer. But Beth Ditto and Gossip took it one step further by bringing out dozens signs and demonstrators who were pro-trans, pro-queer, pro-gay, pro-body positivity, pro-BIPOC and bascially pro-anything sexual or gender affirming that would upset a conservative.

Kurt would’ve loved it. Watch the performance below.
