If there was such a thing as the perfect bar band it would have to be The Hold Steady.
The Brooklyn-by-way-of-Minneapolis group is the perfect soundtrack for spending a night out at your favorite watering hole. The band, which had a brief hiatus for a few years, no longer tours in the conventional manner.
Instead of trekking across the country going from club to club in a bus, the group plays multiple-day residencies in select cities. Typically one residency is in the middle of the country, one in the south, one on the east coast and one on the west coast.
This year the west coast residency is coming to Seattle May 30-June 1. It will be the second time the band’s Constructive Summer residency sets up shop in Seattle. They previously played three nights in Seattle in 2019.
The band will perform three shows, two at the Crocodile and one at Madame Lou’s. And as part of the weekend residency the band is also offering limited access to its soundcheck on May 30. There will also be a guitar gear workshop and pub trivia with the band.

The Hold Steady fans are invited to attend the Friday soundcheck and happy hour at The Crocodile. We’ll have a host to MC and take questions from the audience for the band. Those who’ve attended these events know how fun they are and if you haven’t been, come experience this unique event filled with the stories behind the songs and tales from the last 21 years.
