Listen to Eddie Vedder cover Chris Cornell’s ‘Seasons’

Eddie Vedder has been spending his summer abroad in Europe where he is playing several solo shows and opening for The Who. As is typical with his solo tours, he’s been delivering sets lasting more than two hours filled with material from his solo albums, Pearl Jam’s catalog and plenty of choice covers.

During his concert in Dusseldorf he ended the show with a touching cover of Chris Cornell’s solo contribution to the “Singles” soundtrack, “Seasons.” Listen to Vedder’s tribute to his friend below.

Prior to the cover, Vedder told a story about finding out about the birth of Lilian Cornell, Cornell’s first child, shortly before going onstage 19 years ago. During that concert, which was at the Roskilde Festival, nine people died when the crowd rushed to the stage during Pearl Jam’s performance. Vedder memorialized the event in the song “Love Boat Captain.”
