Tonight: Head Like A Kite throws a masquerade party

Sure Mardi Gras was a few days ago but don’t tell Dave Einmo of Head Like A Kite.

Einmo knows a thing or two about throwing parties — HLAK shows often end up being sweaty, dance-fueled frenzies — and tonight at Neumos he is bringing a masquerade party complete with burlesque dancers and a few of Guerrilla Candy’s favorite local bands who will be joining in tonight’s festivities.

The last time HLAK partied with the burlesque dancers known as the Atomic Bombshells  it was an unforgettable night of sexy debauchery at the Crocodile and you can expect more of that same spirited and fun dance party vibe tonight. Also word on the street is that Einmo is working on new material to follow-up last year’s Dreams Suspend Night (which was Guerrilla Candy’s top local record of 2010) so there’s a possibility of hearing new songs alongside favorites like the earworm that is “She’s Wearing That Costume,” Tilson-heavy tracks “Diamond Paint,” “Always On The Wrong Side of Sunrise” and “Director’s Cut” and the banging instrumental “Robot Makes Love With The Swingset 1976.”

Hearing new HLAK is pretty much worth the price of admission on its own and the burlesque dancers, opening acts (The Redwood Plan and The Young Evils) and the theatrics of the a masquerade show are almost added bonuses.

Head Like A Kite’s Masquerade Ball featuring The Redwood Plan, The Young Evils and the Atomic Bombshells happens tonight at Neumos (9 p.m., $10).
