For Your Consideration: Blood Orange Paradise

01 Rooks by Blood Orange Paradise

Rock ‘n’ roll isn’t supposed to be pretty. It isn’t something you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on polishing and perfecting in a studio before releasing it into the world for mass consumption. Rock ‘n’ roll is a feeling, an ethos and to some extent a lifestyle.

Am I romanticizing a bit here? Yes. But that’s what good rock ‘n’ roll does, it makes you feel all mushy and tingly and awesome inside and it makes you want to express those feelings and share what you are experiencing with others. Or at least that what it does to me.

Those feelings and that reaction to good music — not just rock ‘n’ roll– are why I spend countless hours writing about music and sharing my experiences as a member of the local music community with you here on Guerrilla Candy. I’m always excited to support bands that play good rock ‘n’ roll, which is why I’m excited to see  Blood Orange Paradise perform July 8 (that’s this Friday people) at the Guerrilla Candy Presents show at the High Dive. Give the track “Rook” a listen above and then go download their White Lighter demo EP for free.

Does Blood Orange Paradise make the prettiest, most polished tunes out there? No, they don’t. But after listening to their music it’s hard to argue that they don’t make good rock ‘n’ roll. It’s also tough to deny Blood Orange Paradise makes the type of rock that gives you a mushy and tingly and awesome feeling inside that you want share with others and experience live.

Tickets for Guerrilla Candy Presents cost $7 and can be purchased by clicking here or by showing up at the door Friday night. See you there!
